Suddenly Christmas Party (Fri)

You are invited to join us for an evening of books, fizz and festive fun at our Suddenly Christmas Party!

Back due to much popularity, we will be hosting another Suddenly Jolabokaflod as part of the evening's celebrations. This Icelandic tradition translates as the 'Christmas Book Flood' and involves the giving and receiving new books, with its essence lying in the joy of reading them together.

Before the evening, you'll be asked to give us the title of a paperback book you have loved reading this year and would like to recommend to others. It can be something that was published recently, or a cherished old favourite - it's totally up to you. We will then order and wrap the recommended books and all attendees at the Jolabokaflod will then receive a paperback book that has been loved by one of the other guests. You'll be gifted your book upon arrival, and if you don't fancy it - you can swap it with someone else's gift! The best bit is that you know every book in the room comes thoroughly recommended by another reader, and you'll get the opportunity to talk to them about it on the night too.

As well as a book, your ticket will also include festive refreshments, a bookish quiz (with prizes, of course), and opportunities for late night shopping to make sure you get some of those tricky Christmas presents ticked off the list. First and foremost though, it's an opportunity to be social and celebrate our shared love of reading! We hope to see you there!
